ABOUT US
Aukerman Chiropractic Clinic is here to help our patients of all ages reach an optimal state of health through rehabilitation, education, and holistic healthcare.
We treat the root of the problem by addressing the specific pain generator whether it be disc, nerve, joint, or muscle. We promote an active lifestyle through exercise, healthy diet, and self care. Patient education is key in maintaining a state of well-being and a sense of self-efficacy. We also have the aptitude and certification to treat sports related injuries with state of the art therapeutic modalities and a designated rehabilitation room.
Our doctors take a holistic approach to healing the body by incorporating all aspects of the neuromusculoskeletal system in order to find the root of the problem. By integrating chiropractic treatment, nutritional counseling, soft tissue techniques, and rehabilitative therapeutic exercise regimens, we are able to maximize patient outcomes. Understanding the mechanisms and complex biomechanics of these injuries is vital to proper treatment of a condition. Not limited in practice, we treat an array of patients anywhere from pediatrics to geriatrics, including pregnant women and athletes.
It is our goal to find the correct treatment path for our patients, whether it be to manage, co-manage or refer. Providing necessary referral to other health care providers is an essential foundation of the profession.

OUR SERVICES
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is most often used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including: headaches, neck pain, back pain, TMJ disorders and upper/lower extremity dysfunctions. Chiropractors are well known for a therapeutic procedure know as “spinal manipulation” also referred to as the “chiropractic adjustment”. This manipulation is performed to restore joint motion, easing muscle tension, and reducing stress on the nervous system by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have lost its normal range of motion or has become restricted as a result of injury or immobilization.
Manual/Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Doctors of Chiropractic use either their hands or stainless steel instruments to increase blood flow and break up adhesions in injured soft tissue. Both manual and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization break up abnormal densities in tissue, such as scar tissue, and help to reinitiate the first stage of healing in the body. By treating the injured soft tissue, range of motion may be improved while restoring proper function to the underlying joints. Soft tissue techniques utilized include: ConnecTX Technique, NimmoCare, Ischemic Compression, Myofascial Release, Pin & Stretch, and Post Isometric Relaxation.
Rehabilitation
When an injury occurs, the surrounding tissues will react in a certain manner in order to prevent further damage to the injured region. Often times, the muscles surrounding a joint will become restricted and stiff not allowing normal motion of the joint. This tightness can lead to further pain and discomfort. Once the injury has been treated, it is crucial to return a joint to proper function and allow for normal range of motion. This is where rehabilitative exercises plays such an important role in recovery. We must reactivate and strengthen the muscles that have been weakened as a result of the injury and restore normal function to all the tissues affecting the joint.
Flexion Distraction
Flexion and distraction is a type of hands-on spinal manipulation, which is performed by having the patient lie on a specially designed chiropractic table. It is a type of decompression therapy that helps to relieve spinal pain. Flexion and distraction is most appropriate for conditions causing low back pain and leg pain, as well as neck and arm pain. It has been proven to reduce pain associated with disc bulges/herniations, facet syndrome, spinal canal stenosis and spondylolisthesis.
Electric Muscle Stimulation
Electrical stimulation uses electrical current that passes through electrodes placed on the body. This therapy can reduce pain by way of releasing natural opioids produced by the body, reduce spasm, decrease swelling and promote healing. Electrical stimulation can also be used to promote strengthening in a healthy muscle belly.
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound uses and produces high frequency sound waves to treat a variety of conditions. This therapy can stimulate the release of chemicals, which enhance the inflammatory response that may help reduce chronic inflammation, decrease joint stiffness, reduce muscle spasm, increase blood flow and decrease pain. Therapeutic ultrasound can be used to treat acute or chronic conditions such as muscle strains, ligament sprains, muscle spasms and related inflammation.

Latest Clinic News
Pain is the last symptom of dysfunction.
A patient’s back is often restricted for months or years before it presents as a problem. Also, the absence of pain does not necessarily mean health. While medication may be needed, if you take a pill and the pain goes away, the dysfunction that caused it is still usually there. Muscle, ligament and joint injuries often occur as a result of long-term biomechanical dysfunction, sometimes from past injuries, making the area more susceptible to future injury.
Chiropractic is for all ages.
Many senior citizens aren’t aware of the benefits of chiropractic care, which can help them not only with pain relief, but also increase range of motion, balance and coordination, and decrease joint degeneration. No person is too young for chiropractic either. Chiropractors often examine newborns immediately following the birthing process for misalignments of the upper vertebrae. In addition to supporting overall health and well-being, parents also take their children to chiropractors to encourage healthy brain and nervous system development, to assist with colic, allergies, asthma, bed-wetting and sleeping problems, and to assist with behavioral disorders.
